This was a drawing a did a while ago using photo reference...Today I decided to ink it real quick using my trusty Raphael #2 brush. The paper it was drawn on was just sketch paper, and the large black area of the hair warped the paper a little. When I scanned in the image, there were some light grayish areas formed from the irregular surface of the paper. Initially, I was going to get rid of them, but then I noticed how cool they looked (at least to me). I kept them, and then decided to throw some colors on it, added some zipatone, and viola, the first real finished piece I've done all by myself in quite a while! I had a lot of fun with this...Hope you like it!
very nice. its always goodto see comic artists cut loose once in awhile. composition is great an color choices are right on.a couple things:i would push yo dark color values in the skin further. you have medium, light, and extreme light, but the dark values are very muted. added in a few areas, like under the jaw lne, around the shoulder etc, wil reallymake it pop. i'm not to sure about the dot pattern. is that n effect you added in photoshop? when the pic is scaled down in small view its ok, but in full view that pattern is pretty intence. if it is something you tossed in maybe dropping the opacity to around 75% so its less of the focus in full view.other wise this is top notch-J.
my only critique on this is that the dot "filter im assuming covers up some of you terrific detail -i.e. the mouth- but thats minor i love this and i love your style plz continue to impress and inspire me.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
